The International Association of
Physicians in AIDS Care (IAPAC), in partnership with
the Volunteer Healthcare Corps (a project of the
AIHA Twinning Center), is recruiting U.S. physicians
to help scale-up the delivery of care and treatment
to people living with HIV/AIDS in human resource-constrained
African countries.
Infectious Disease (ID) specialists
are sought for volunteer assignments as Clinical
Preceptors and Technical Advisors in South Africa
and Tanzania. The assignments range in duration from
three months to one year.
- Tanzania (Clinical
Preceptors): Volunteers will support HIV Care and
Treatment Centers by providing on-site training
and mentoring to staff at regional and district
hospitals throughout the country. This is a minimum
three-month assignment. Two years’ work experience
in delivering HIV/AIDS care is required. Up to

- South Africa (Clinical Preceptors):
Volunteers will support HIV Care and Treatment
Centers by providing on-site training and mentoring
to staff at district hospitals and primary care
facilities in the Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and Northern
Cape Provinces. This is a minimum three- to six-month
assignment. Three years’ work experience in delivering

- South Africa (Technical
Advisor – Clinical Training): Volunteer will support
the Reproductive Health & HIV
Research Unit (RHRU) at the University of the Witwatersrand
and at Johannesburg Hospital. The Technical Advisor
will provide technical direction and assistance
in all clinical aspects of RHRU HIV Management
Cluster training. This is a minimum six-month to
one-year assignment. Four years’ work experience

- South Africa (Technical
Advisor – TB/HIV): Volunteer will support the Reproductive
Health & HIV
Research Unit at the University of the Witwatersrand
and at Johannesburg Hospital. The Technical Advisor
will lead the integration of TB into all aspects
of work within the RHRU HIV Management Cluster,
with a strong focus on the inner city of Johannesburg.
This is a minimum six-month to one-year assignment.
Four years’ public sector experience of treating
